Diversity and inclusion is tough. It needs welcoming policies stated on your website; an inclusion statement in all job descriptions and overt diversity representation of your workforce in communications materials.
Leila Powell, Senior Security Data Scientist discusses the launch of WEDS and her journey from academia to cyber startup.
“Nearly four years ago, after a career in academia as an astrophysicist, I joined a very early stage cyber-security start-up as a data scientist. When I started to attend and speak at infosec events, I found a considerable lack of women, regardless of whether it was a small meetup or an international conference. I wasn’t particularly surprised as I’d seen it all before.”
