Panaseer supports young Black men in tech as part of its continued commitment to diversity and inclusion

29 November, 2022, London and New York Panaseer has participated in the diversity and inclusion programme with Workforce Integration Network (WIN) Design Lab, focused on supporting young Black men aged 16 to 24 to enter London’s technology industry. The project has been ongoing across 2022 and forms part of Panaseer’s continued commitment to contribute to improving diversity and inclusion in tech.

The programme, coordinated by The Equal Group, was designed to improve pathways for under-represented groups in the workplace. Its current focus stems from the especially high unemployment rate experienced by young Black men in London, tracking at 33% compared to 15% for White men.

With the support of the WIN Design Lab, Panaseer has been active in a series of workshops and bespoke one-to-one support sessions to become an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) leader in the technology sector and improve the diversity and inclusiveness of its workplace. Learning about key topics, including structural racism, intersectionality, and how to create an inclusive recruitment process, the program has shaped and supported the development of Panaseer’s committed action plan.

Alongside seven other technology companies, Panaseer also took part in a dedicated recruitment drive, speaking to young Black men interested in careers in tech, and understanding their different views, motivations and ideas, all of which can bring huge benefits to the industry.

The programme culminated with a closing ceremony in November, marking the implementation of Panaseer’s action plan with three key commitments to:

  • Diversify candidate recruitment pipelines by providing hiring managers with guidance on inclusive recruitment and defining a procurement policy for recruitment partners
  • Embed EDI within existing company-wide learning and development plans
  • Establish the collection of demographic data throughout the whole employee lifecycle, from application onwards to track the impact of the action plan

“We truly believe that an individual’s ability to shine through professionally depends both on personal drive as well as working in an environment in which you feel safe and belonging,” says Yael Harel, VP People, Panaseer. “At Panaseer we strive to make sure that our dedicated ‘Seers’ find around themselves such an environment. We aim to provide an inclusive workplace for everyone to be successful and drive for results whilst growing their career and keeping well.”
