Win for Panaseer at the Women in IT Awards

January 26, 2017

The Panaseer Team

The team at Panaseer work hard to ensure that the firm’s contribution to the world of enterprise security is second to none.

It takes the greatest minds to meet the cyber security challenges of the modern world, and that means a policy of diversity and inclusion.

The firm is well known for creating some of the best data analytics tools and business analytics software available, designed to help their clients improve their cyber security strategy. Now the company is also gaining recognition for the amazing talent it employs.

Earlier this year, Panaseer’s Chief of Staff, Sophie Harrison, scooped the Business Leader of the Year award at The Women in IT Awards in front of one thousand business and technology leaders.

This event is the world’s largest technology diversity event and included a keynote speech from Alex Younger, head of the Secret Intelligence Service. The MI6 chief stressed the importance of attracting the best IT talent as technology continues to transform the capabilities required of Britain’s foreign intelligence agency.

Why we need diversity in enterprise security

Around eight in ten IT roles are filled by men in the UK, and it is vital that more women are attracted to the industry if organisations such as MI6 want to be sure they are using the best talent available.

Panaseer is involved in the cutting edge of enterprise security and relies on employing the most talented people to help it develop the best tools in security risk management. The Panaseer team understand the risks and vulnerabilities – as well as the advantages – that come with the wide use of big data analysis in today’s fast-moving world.

Business analytics software is bringing more in-depth understanding, gleaned from huge amounts of data, than anybody could have imagined not too long ago.

However, while the best data analytics tools deliver useful insight, the big data that these tools look at contains information that is often highly sensitive. Having an effective cyber security strategy is not only vital for an agency such as MI6 to protect British interests; it is also essential for businesses and other organisations to protect their commercial interests and the privacy of the people they hold information about.

The Women in IT Awards, organised by Information Age in partnership with Amazon Web Services, aims to tackle the technology industry’s gender imbalance by identifying new female role models and promoting collective dialogue around diversity among key industry stakeholders.

As Panaseer’s Chief of Staff, Sophie Harrison has done exceptionally well to earn the Business Leader of the Year award and it is well deserved.

It is also an excellent result for Panaseer.

People like Sophie are part of the winning team that make Panaseer such an effective force in enterprise security.
